Last year we worried about so much, from Mystic standing on one foot, to being gone to long, to certain babies we didnt think were getting fed..hopefully we can relax a little this year…until they start flying..LOL.. and Cheryl..where are OUR babies?? I wish they would show up on someones camera..I WISH..
She has kind of picked a bad year tostart laying early….. wind chills in the teens- snow storm coming? It willbe even worse for falcons who just have an open nest box…
While we’re all waiting here’s a history Carrollton put together.
ODNR noted peregrine falcon’s in downtown Canton Ohio in the late 1990’s. In 2003 Maverick (B/G R/R, son of Bandit and Katie-Columbus, Ohio) was positively identified as the resident male. The then unbanded female, (later caught and given a USFW band and named Priscilla) reigned until 2009 when Priscilla fell ill and died en route to vet, leaving Maverick to raise the three eyases alone. He succeded and two of those are:
Diamond-resident female at Niagra Falls, and McKinley-resident tiercel at Akron, Ohio)
In 2010, Maverick was nesting with now resident female-Mystic (B/G S/22) his granddaughter. They were succesfull in 2010 and 2011 in raising 7 total eyas’s…Two of which are currently residents at site’s in Canada (Midnight) and Indiana (Moxie). (Matrix was briefly at Columbus in 2011)
Just after the new year of 2012, Maverick was found deceased. ODNR official noted he appeared to have had a collision with a building and run over by a vehicle. Locals noted territorial battle’s going on, with three falcons, in the days before Maverick being found deceased, and speculated that he died during a battle. He was 12 years old and had raised 30 offspring during his reign at Canton.
His grandson JoJo, (B/R 30/B) was positivley identified as Maverick’s successor. However, when the new live camera was installed in 2012, JoJo was last seen on cam March 28th 2012.
During the next night, Mystic laid her first egg and the following morning a unbanded sub-adult male’s image was caught in the nestbox with Mystic.
Mystic proceeded to lay a clutch of 4, and the subadult male, dubbed Maurice by falcon watcher Cheryl, stepped up and fed Mystic during the incubation as best he could. It worked, and all four hatched.
Mystic then did most of the work as the young male Maurice continued to battle his youth and many funny times were observed as he learned “the ropes”.
All four fledged, with two being rescued by Chad and Chris Saladin, and all were observed flying and learning to hunt till dispersal in late summer.
Maurice has been recently observed, after a short hiatus, and now in his glorious full adult plumage, with Mystic, at the Chase Tower, just below the nestbox……
Looks good to me, Cheryl, – took a good bit of diggng, I bet. I wish I could have seen Maverick in actiion. He was quite a teircel. and left a great legacy. By the way, CPF mentioned Midnight (Yesterday, I think) She and Milton are hanging around the same area, MILTON
She’s such a tease. I left for a bit and came back, and she has changed position, maybe seems a little “edgy”? I was up early today, andIve got to hit the sack. Hang in there Mystic. Good night, everyone……
Gee whiz – I was looking at the stills for March 26. Mystic was off the eggs only 4 times. Mo visited once, but never sat on the eggs for her. Mother Nature needs to have a talk with that boy about parental responsibilities!
Hello Admin, or anyone else who can advise me… I wanted to view the stills to watch Mystic get off the eggs and Mo get on them. I picked March 31 randomly. I found a still on the thumbnail of Mystic getting off the eggs and I tried to download that pic so I could advance from there to observe Mo hopping on the eggs. Well, I waited and waited and the pic wouldn’t load. Do I just need to be patient and wait, or am I not doing something right? Thankyou!

Did you guys see C&Cs comment on CMNH? Some people had to go up on the roof of Canton Club to repair a compressor. They wondered if anyone noticed “the pair” being aggressive. Cant wait to see the archives for today! (Thursday April 11)
Amazing as it sounds, we are now 10 days away from hatch watch. The egg turning stage seems long, but moves so quickly. Maurice has really gotten the hang of incubation and will be fascinating to watch when the eggs hatch.
Admin…Are there stills loaded? I get a white “flash” after clicking on the day…then black screen…Just wondered…………..BTW……………This week is hatch watch!! 🙂
Hi Suzette! I don’t know much about the cams, except that some, including ours goes dark if you aren’t right there to move the mouse once in a while…. kinda annoying…. I was just watching Mystic on the eggs. Its fun watching her tenderly tuck the eggs beneath her. Are McKinley and Chesapeake doing well?
I haven’t heard about Chesapeake and McKinley. I have been watching the cams. Wish Akron had one. I haven’t been downtown except when I was driving with Mom in car. Missed yesterday afternoon/eve/this A.M. I was playing in the flowers (and weeds) Mystic is definitely doing some serious listening to the eggs. Hoping for “breaking” news
Ive been watching since about 2pm and she has pretty much just sat on those eggs… I believe I saw her talking to the eggs, too – at least her “lips” were moving… Just a bit ago she looked down toward the eggs for several seconds, then reached down and give something a tender little tap. One of her little “chicks under construction” 🙂 Going to have to go here shortly…
Its 5:14. she just did a little stand up – sit down, offering a tiny peek at the eggs. I could not see any obvious progress toward a hatch. Maybe she told the chick to sleep in today……
Trading Places around 11:55, just as I found time to check, so I dint see the eggs… Mystic is really listening, Constantly turning her head to her right, then looking down…
Thanks for reporting Susan and Suzette…some of us are having internet issues and cannot get the live cam much…Let us know what you see…and post if the stills get updated. Thanks again!
Took some video of early this A.M. and again about 4 or 5. not sure if I can post it however. Right now there are so many shadows I can barely see her/him.
AWWW just saw the little eyas (how do you spell it) sitting there by himself for a few secs… He was sitting up, toppled over a bit,and then sat back up real big waiting for mom, who came shortly….
Hopefully tomorrow will be the 4th egg and if history repeats itself that should be a complete nest for Mystic and Maurice.
SOO Exciting!! YAYY

Peenie is somewhere looking at himself in a window and Atticus went to law school.
Probably!! lol
BTW Alison I’m on BCAW
Hi guys- she seems pretty quiet yet…. Just for anyhow, I predict Mystic will lay egg #4 between 11:20 and 11:30 😉 ….. Anyone have “counter proposal”?
Weather girl says wind chill temps in the teens 🙁
I’m still waiting. You could be right because she seems to add 5 hours each time.

MY computer is acting screwy – I didnt mean to post yet. MILTON was flirting with a young migrating female. Thankfully she left!!
Well, divine Ms. M – not yet, huh? Well, I predict she lays the egg before sunrise???
Maybe we’ll only get three this year. 3 babies and Mo still equal 4 mouths to feed.
She’s such a tease. I left for a bit and came back, and she has changed position, maybe seems a little “edgy”? I was up early today, andIve got to hit the sack. Hang in there Mystic. Good night, everyone……
1:57 AM still only 3 eggs
7:37 AM….she hopped off….there’s 4!!!….Yayyyy!!!!….Happy Palm Sunday All!
I watched until 2AM…gave up here too…figured she would lay around 2:30am or 3am….looks like she did…LOL…she outlasted everyone last night….S
New stills have been uploaded.
Ha Mystic- youre so sly!! Have you told Mo yet?
Look at the stills between 4:57 and 5:02 AM
I think your right 4:59:32 her eyes are open, 5:00:32 she has her eyes closed, 5:01:32 she is looking back and there are 4 eggs.
There is a new poll posted.
Voted I think she’s done. This should put hatch watch approx April 24 and Fledge the first week of June.
Posted some captures from the stills

Thanks,Cheryl…. Mystic makes me think of the postal service… neither rain nor sleet nor snow… can keep her from taking care of her eggs…
She’s a great Mom. Thanks to admin for keeping the stills updated..
Captures from3/26. Mystic is spending little time off the eggs. Maurice does make a short appearance in two captures.

I know I’m going to hate myself in the morning, but do we have a tweet account admin?
Gee whiz – I was looking at the stills for March 26. Mystic was off the eggs only 4 times. Mo visited once, but never sat on the eggs for her. Mother Nature needs to have a talk with that boy about parental responsibilities!
I don’t think she wants him on her eggs.
Cam Spidy may make it’s appearance tonight??
NO !!! NOT CAM SPIDEY!!!!! :-O

Hi Admin, could you load the stills for April 1 to 11 for us? Thanks a lot!
From 14:09 o 14:15 Mystic was repeatedly opening her mouth very wide, almost like a cat when it is meowing insistently. Was she casting a pellet?
Yes… wish she would do that off the nest! LOL…Did you see it come out? The cast would resemble a black capsule…
No, I didn’t “get” to see it come out :-0 Do they do that on a daily basis?
Whats the CC forum?
Your on it…LOL! 🙂
Wishing for wings that worked and stills to post.
Admin…Are there stills loaded? I get a white “flash” after clicking on the day…then black screen…Just wondered…………..BTW……………This week is hatch watch!! 🙂
This week begins the home stretch. 33 days will be 24th. Time to start watching for pips in the eggs.
Eggciting. Hatch watch!!! This should be the week. Will be amazing to see what Mystic and Maurice accomplished together. Hope everyone is watching.
First Hatch at Cleveland…Mystic’s first hatch is anytime now….they laid their first eggs within a day of each other!! 🙂
REPLY to Carrolltons “Youre on it”…….
ALTOGETHER NOW, EVERYBODY… 1,2, 3 ……… DUH!!!!!!!!! 🙂
Why is the cam only good for a few minutes then you have to click the arrow or refresh. All I want to do is watch.

THANKYOU ADMIN!!!!!!!!!!!
Admin has April 11 loaded for us… Check around 8:50 am, and you can see Mystic is watching something. But the devoted mom does not leave her eggs.
SHE Just repositioned and there is a nice pip in one!!! and she is “talking” to the eggs!!
YES!!!!!!!!!! THANKS FOR THE UPDATE.
Ive been watching since about 2pm and she has pretty much just sat on those eggs… I believe I saw her talking to the eggs, too – at least her “lips” were moving… Just a bit ago she looked down toward the eggs for several seconds, then reached down and give something a tender little tap. Lots of turning in circles as she was turning the eggs ( I presume) . off and on throughout the night. Didn’t get a good look at the eggs.
Thanks for reporting Susan and Suzette…some of us are having internet issues and cannot get the live cam much…Let us know what you see…and post if the stills get updated. Thanks again!
